You know that emoji of the dancer in the red dress? That’s exactly how this dress and this city makes me feel.
You can see the embarrassing evidence on Instagram.
Florence buzzes with a vibrant energy so I knew I had to wear an equally vibrant red dress. Aside from our visit to the Piazza Michelangelo, we visited the Galleria dell’Accademia for an art fix and Mercato Centrale – Florence’s equivalent of New York’s Eataly where you can grab pasta, meats, cheeses, gelato and a drink all under one roof (perfect for indecisive eaters like me).

The city’s crown jewel was the Duomo di Firenze (the city’s main cathedral). We climbed to the top of the dome, where we took in a panoramic view of Florence and the surrounding hills. If you can manage a few minutes of climbing stairs (much more doable than the Piazza Michelangelo) and are okay in tight spaces, then you’ll be rewarded with yet another gorgeous view of the city.
