The Perfect Maxi

Even though I’m a bit on the short side (thanks mom and dad!), I love me a good maxi dress. There’s something undeniably feminine about a full-length frock. But still, at a staggering 5’2″, the perfect length is hard to come by. Sure, I could put in the extra effort to get them tailored, but I prefer picking up pieces that don’t require a 1-3 day wait time. They don’t call it ready-to-wear for nothing!

So when I put on this wallpaper floral maxi dress from LOFT, it was love at first sight. I bought it in petites, so the hem was already hovering perfectly above the ground — even while wearing flats! And oh hey there side slit — don’t mind if I channel a little Angelina Jolie. I’ll probably be scooping up this dress in turquoise ASAP because all dresses are 40% off at LOFT right now! sequin shoulders

Let’s pretend yesterday wasn’t a brutal 5°F with a windchill of -12°F and rewind to the week I was barelegged and dining al fresco in San Diego. Feels like ages ago, doesn’t it?

Well polar vortex be damned — in my mind, I’m still twirling around in a hot pink skirt and donning a beaded top sans coat. I hope you’re all staying warm!

party plumage

I can’t believe we’re nearly one week into 2014. Last week, I rang in the new year in this little fringe number. It was my last, but perhaps favorite purchase of 2013. I had been looking for an affordable feathered skirt for ages, and while this one isn’t made of actual plumage, the omrebe fringe is like a light replica. It’s now nesting happily in my wardrobe and I can’t wait to hatch up another outfit with it!
