While we’re on the subject of summer, I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the little time we have left together. Lately, I’ve had fall fashion on my mind (and in my outfits) so much that I almost forgot to savor the rest of this season. It’s time to slow my roll, switch out my dark nail polish and bring back the brights. With two weekends left, I foresee a few rooftop bars, a picnic in the park and maybe a last minute getaway. Enjoy it while it lasts my friends!

It’s not every night you can dress up in all white, bring your own tablescape to the park and revel under the summer sky with a few thousand people. Suffice it to say, this past weekend was one for the books.
This past Saturday, I got together with my partner-in-crime Roxy and our respective loves for PopUp Dinner Brooklyn. The rules were simple: dress up in all white, bring your own food, drinks and table décor and let the magic unfold.
So … maybe it was easier said than done considering how much we had to transport from Manhattan to Brooklyn. After a morning of outfit, food and décor preparations, we ended up bringing a multi-course meal, homemade sangria assembled on site and a spectacular tablescape that included Roxy’s wedding china (would you expect anything less?). All that was missing was one of her signature bar carts — but hey, there’s always next year!
Once we settled in and sangria’ed up, the evening was ours for the making. We wined, we dined and we danced to a guest performance by Ben Folds. I couldn’t have created a better evening if I tried. It’s unexpected, awe-inspiring, over-the-top moments like this that make summer in the city truly spectacular.

When it comes to special occasions, I have the tendency to buy an outfit only to never wear it again. Well, not this year. Part of the reason why I set a monthly shopping budget was to work with my wardrobe in new ways. Since I bought this red lace dress for Valentine’s Day last year, it’s about time I bust it out again for a remix.
The easiest way to transform an outfit? Top it with a blazer — brownie points if it’s of the tuxedo variety. You add instant polish and class, and best of all, that special little dress lives to see another day.
