You know how some outfits make you feel cooler than you actually are? This is one of them.

I have yet to master the effortlessly cool tie-your-plaid-shirt-over-your-waist look, so when I saw this pink tie waist skirt from ASOS, I knew I had to have it (it also comes in teal!). Hello built-in street cred.

I love it because it’s unlike any of the usual suspects in my closet (like my colorblock pleated skirt or my berry-colored midi skirt). A little bit feminine, a little bit of allure and a whole lot of POW. I wore this to a People StyleWatch event during NYFW and played it up with a black crop top, a gunmetal tassel necklace and a pair strappy pumps. Just don’t tell anyone that I’m not actually as badass as I appear to be.
