Since James and I went on our adventure to Greece at the beginning of the season (check out my Mykonos and Santorini recaps), we’ve spent most of our summer here in New York. As much as I’ve been itching to get out of town since then, I have to admit that I’ve loved all the low-key weekends we’ve spent exploring our own city.
For me, an ideal weekend in NYC starts with grabbing fresh bagels from our favorite deli (Tal Bagels in Gramercy) and walking our dog through the East Village trying to find a coffee shop that we haven’t been to yet. A few weekends ago, we met up with a friend in Central Park and laid a few blankets down on a relatively quiet lawn near Belvedere Castle. The weather has been so perfect lately (read: not unbearably hot and humid) that it would be a waste not to spend your day outside. Plus, napping in the park is probably one of my favorite things to do.
We’ve also tried a few new restaurants lately: Flex Mussels in the West Village, Cuba in Greenwich Village and the North River Lobster Co. along the Hudson River – all of which I highly recommend!
What’s on your summer bucket list? I can’t help but feel like there’s so much left to do with so little summer left to do it, but I think my “winter is coming” mindset might be a little irrational. I just need to remind myself to take it easy, go slow and soak up every second of summer that I can.
